Can we talk about how everyone suddenly hates filler episodes?

I tried rewatching the original 'Naruto' series with my nephew, expecting to skip the filler, but he got totally hooked on the one about finding a lost beetle. What's a filler arc you actually enjoyed?

The G-8 arc in One Piece was a filler arc I liked better than some canon stuff. @eric_johnson, do you think filler gets judged too harshly just because it's not in the manga?

Wait, is hating filler really that widespread though? Most people I talk to either skip it or just watch it for fun. G-8 was legit good, but I think people give filler a hard time because it messes with pacing and character consistency. Like, in Naruto filler, they'd make Naruto act way dumber than he actually was, and that sticks out more than the good stuff.
