DAE think anime fans confuse 'good animation' with 'lots of movement'?
I keep seeing people call a show badly animated just because it has fewer frames per second during quiet scenes, and it bugs me. Take a dialogue-heavy episode with two characters sitting on a bench at sunset, the art stays crisp and the lighting does real work, but a commenter will call it a slideshow because nobody is flipping around. On the other side, a fight scene can have wild camera moves and 30 cuts in 20 seconds and people will call it a masterpiece even when the character designs go off-model in half the shots. I recorded the last fight episode I watched and paused it frame by frame, and the faces were mushy for maybe 40 percent of the running time. So which one matters more to you, clean consistent drawings or constant motion, and is there a show you think got judged wrong for this?
