Found a way to track down old anime forum threads that actually works

I was trying to find this super specific debate about the ending of 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' from a forum back in 2012, but the site was gone. I started using the 'site:' search on Google with the Wayback Machine's URL, like 'site:web.archive.org evangelion ending debate 2012'. It pulled up a cached version of the exact thread from the old AnimeSuki forum. Has anyone else dug up old discussions this way, or got a better method?

Try adding "forum" to your search terms, helps narrow it down.

Adding a year like 2024 really does help, I started doing that for car repair stuff and got way less dead threads from 2015.

Adding "forum" is a solid tip from @olivias88, but it can still pull up huge sites like Reddit. I always add the specific year to my search, like "2024 forum." It cuts out all the old, closed threads from ten years ago that still rank high. You get way more current info from people dealing with the same stuff right now. That little date change made a huge difference for me last week when I was looking for router settings.
