My friend told me to skip the first 12 episodes of One Piece and I finally did it

He said the Arlong Park arc was the real start, so I jumped straight to episode 31 last weekend. Honestly, it hooked me way faster than the early stuff ever did, and now I'm 50 episodes deep. Has anyone else tried starting a big show on a friend's 'skip list' and had it work out?

But what about all the setup you missed? Those early episodes build the crew and show why Luffy's dream matters. Skipping them feels like starting a book at chapter five, you know? You lose the small moments that make the big fights mean something later. I tried skipping parts of a different show once and ended up totally lost on why characters acted the way they did. The start is slow for a reason.

Lol "starting a book at chapter five" is too real. I tried skipping the Baratie arc once cause I just wanted to see more fights, and then I had zero clue why Sanji was feeding that guy on the rock or why it was such a big deal. Totally missed the whole point. You're right @morgan_ward61, the slow start is all the small stuff that makes you care. Like, if you skip Usopp's village, you don't get why him standing up to Luffy later hits so hard. I learned my lesson the hard way, now I'm the guy telling newbies not to skip anything.
