My friend told me to skip the first 20 episodes of One Piece

He said the Arlong Park arc was the only real starting point, but I found the early crew dynamics essential. Anyone else think skipping setup episodes is bad advice?

Skipping the Baratie arc is a crime, honestly.

My first watch-through I skipped it for the action, which was a huge mistake. You miss the whole setup for Sanji's character and the emotional payoff. I was basically speedrunning the story without understanding it.

But I got Sanji's whole deal just fine from later scenes.
