Pro tip: skip the dubbed version if you want real emotion in the dialogue

I was watching Attack on Titan Season 2 and something felt off with the English dub. The voices were fine but the timing was just a little late on emotional beats. I switched to subbed halfway through episode 4 and it hit way harder. Anyone else notice the sub captures the raw voice acting way better?

Dive right into the details here because you're totally on point about Attack on Titan. The English dub for that show loses a lot of the raw panic and desperation in the original Japanese performances. Like, take the scene where Eren first transforms in season 2, the subbed version has this guttural, almost animalistic scream that the English actor just can't match. The timing is a big part of it too, you notice those half-second delays in emotional scenes where the subbed dialogue lands perfectly with the character's face. Once you switch to subbed, you realize how much tighter the whole emotional ride feels.

Ngl I'm still embarrassed it took me three episodes to realize they were speaking English differently.
