Rewatching Frieren made me see the 24 episode rule differently

Last year I dropped Frieren after 6 episodes because someone on Reddit said the emotional payoff wasn't worth the slow pacing. I got back into it last month during a rainy week in Denver and I have to say that person was flat out wrong. Episode 17 hit me way harder than any fast paced shonen I've binged in the last 5 years, and the quiet moments actually built the whole thing up. Has anyone else gone back to a show they dropped because of one loud opinion and ended up loving it more than the hype shows?

That Reddit take made me drop Vinland Saga for months, and yeah, coming back slow was totally worth it.
