Watching the same trend happen in a lot of areas of life these days. People are getting tired of big companies that raise prices but cut quality. It's like they finally realized paying more doesn't mean you get more. Fansubs show what happens when people actually care about the product instead of just squeezing every dollar out of it. Same thing is happening with music streaming and even grocery store brands. Once you see the difference, it's hard to go back to the polished but empty version.

Nah, big companies still deliver on some things fansubs can't.

Yeah I read something about this recently. A writer was talking about how fansub groups have better translation notes and context than the official releases now. And @tyler368 has a point that big companies have resources but they waste them on the wrong stuff. Like with music you get better sound quality on vinyl but the streaming services compress everything to save money. Kinda funny how the free option cares more about the product than the one you pay for.
