Unpopular opinion: I thought the hype around 'Frieren' was just more fantasy fluff

My friend in Austin made me watch the first episode six months ago, and the quiet focus on time and loss after the adventure ended completely changed my mind. Anyone else have a show that surprised them like that?

Heard a buddy say the same thing about Attack on Titan. Made him watch the first big reveal and he just sat there staring at the screen for like five minutes.
