Why does nobody talk about the cost of streaming services adding up for anime?

I dropped like $60 last month just on Crunchyroll, Hidive, and Netflix to keep up with seasonal shows and classics. That's almost what I spend on a good dinner for two, and half the time I'm scrolling more than watching. I get that they gotta pay for licenses and simuldubs but dang, it adds up quick when you want to watch more than just whatever is on one platform. I've tried sticking to just one service but then I miss out on shows that are exclusive elsewhere. Has anyone found a good way to rotate subscriptions or some kinda budget trick to not miss the stuff you care about?

A buddy of mine got so frustrated with the monthly costs that he set up a shared account with three other friends. They all chip in for Crunchyroll and Netflix, then just rotate who pays for the other services each month. He says it works okay as long as everyone watches the same shows, but sometimes there is drama over who gets to watch what first. It sounds messy but it saves each person like 30 bucks a month. Have you ever tried something like that with your own friends?

People really act like splitting a streaming bill is some kind of high-stakes negotiation. Thirty bucks a month is pretty standard for one person to just pay for their own couple services and be done with it. Friends falling out over who gets to watch the new season of an anime first sounds like a problem that only exists if you let it. Just take turns or binge it in one night like a normal person.
