Am I the only one who just learned boxed cake mix was made for the Great Depression, not moms in the 50s?
Found an old bakery post from a shop in Dayton saying it started as a cheap way to stretch sugar rations back in the 1930s, which explains why my grandma's cakes always tasted the same as mine. Anyone else have an old recipe that turned out to have a whole history behind it?
