Finally got a decent rise on my sourdough after 8 tries
My first 5 loaves came out like hockey pucks, but last Tuesday I used the same starter my buddy in Portland gave me and it actually doubled in size. Anybody else have a moment where their starter just suddenly clicked?

Did you try changing the water temperature at all?

Wait, you had a starter buddy sent you from Portland? That's exactly what happened to me! I was so convinced it was all about technique until I tried my friend's starter from San Francisco and it was like magic.
