Just overheard a lady at the supply store saying she uses dish soap in her royal icing

I was at the counter grabbing a new piping tip and this woman was telling the clerk how she adds a drop of dish soap to her royal icing to make it shiny. I nearly dropped my bag of flour right there. She said it worked great for her cookie orders until people started complaining about a weird taste. Has anyone else ever heard of this hack or am I taking crazy pills?

oh man this is like how people think dawn dish soap is a miracle cure for everything. next thing you know someone's gonna be putting it in their coffee to make it shiny. like yeah it probably works but also it tastes like a dirty sponge so maybe just stick with corn syrup or whatever.

Is this the same kind of person who hacks their soap dispenser to put salad dressing in it and calls it a life hack? I once met a woman who swore by using hand lotion in her cake batter to make it moist, and I still can't look at a bakery case the same way.
