My cheesecake cracked so bad it looked like a map of Texas

I was making a birthday cheesecake for my sister last weekend and forgot to put a water bath under the pan. The top split open in like 3 different places, but I covered it with a mountain of strawberries and whipped cream and everyone thought it was on purpose. Has anyone else saved a cracked cheesecake with creative toppings?

A few years back I would have thrown out a cracked cheesecake without thinking twice. But my daughter talked me into covering one with caramel sauce and toasted pecans and it ended up being the best dessert at the party. Now I actually prefer the rustic look because it feels more homemade, like you put real effort into it rather than just pulling something perfect out of a box.
