My sister-in-law called my sourdough 'aggressively rustic' at a family dinner
She said it looked like a 'geological specimen' and everyone laughed, but I thought the flavor was perfect. It made me wonder, is a great flavor enough to save a visually ugly bake, or does presentation really matter just as much? What's your take?

Geological specimen is actually the right term for it. That's what they call rocks and minerals they pull out of the ground. The cake probably just looked really dense and layered. I get why it sounds funny though. Presentation does matter for some people, but taste is the main thing.
