My sourdough starter went totally flat after a week
Tried making a new one from scratch last Tuesday. Fed it every day like the guide said. By Sunday it just smelled like glue and had zero bubbles. My friend in Austin said my kitchen might be too cold. Anyone have tips for a warmer spot in the house that isn't the oven?

Check if your water is chlorinated, that stuff can kill the yeast. Maybe try bottled water for a couple feeds.

Kill the yeast" seems a bit dramatic. My tap water's never murdered a starter before (it's been fine for years). I'm not convinced it's that big of a deal.
