That 1978 cassette I found had better drum sounds than my $400 plug-in
Found a basement demo tape from a local band called The Circuit Breakers that played around Columbus in the late 70s. The kick drum on the second track was just a mic in a stairwell, but it hits harder than anything I've layered in Reaper since. I spent $400 on a drum VST last spring and still ended up low-passing it to imitate that room tone. Anyone else ever rip sounds from old tapes instead of chasing new gear?
