The drummer's cymbal went from trash can lid to actual music in 3 months and I know why
Back in March our drummer Mike was using a cracked 16 inch crash he got for free off a guy in Yonkers. It sounded like someone dropping a hubcap down a stairwell. He taped it three times with duct tape, then once with electrical tape, then just gave up and hit it softer. Six weeks ago he swapped it for a used Sabian he paid $60 for at a pawn shop in Jersey City. Same hands, same beat, same garage with the busted heater. The demo we cut on Sunday actually sounds like a band instead of a fight in a dumpster. Anyone else notice that one busted piece of gear is what makes a whole demo sound bad?

It's like when one drawer in the kitchen won't close right and suddenly the whole room feels like a mess. Fix that one thing and everything else seems fine again. Same with gear, one bad piece and your ears just lock onto it and miss all the good stuff.
