The sound guy at the VFW in Moline was right and the tape deck crowd is wrong
I went to a battle of the bands at the VFW hall in Moline last month and the sound guy ran everything into a 4 track cassette machine instead of a laptop. He told me straight up that the hiss and the tape compression glue a sloppy garage band together in a way digital just shows all the cracks. I know everyone online says go straight to a hard drive, but the demo they handed out that night sounded warmer than anything I have tracked in my basement. What are you all using to get that glue without paying for a reel to reel?
