Went from a 4 track cassette to a laptop mic and my drums still sound like wet cardboard
Back in 2019 I was bouncing everything to a Tascam 424 with a sock over the mic, and now I record into a $40 USB mic in my basement in Akron. The hiss is gone but the kick still sounds like someone tapping a shoebox, so I'm starting to think the problem was never the gear. What's the cheapest trick you've found for getting a decent kick sound in a room with concrete walls?
