Reading that massive 2017 home renovation thread on the old forum felt like watching paint dry until page 12 where someone finally posted a photo of their subfloor rot

I used to skip to the last page of any long story post back in 2018 thinking I'd get the good part faster, but after that 87-page thread about rebuilding a 1973 Dodge Dart where the engine didn't even fire up until page 63, I learned you have to let the details pile up like sawdust before they mean anything.

Yeah but did they ever figure out what caused the rot in the first place, or was it just a bad DIY job from the previous owner?
