Skipping chapter summaries worked for me on a 900k word fanfic

Tbh I always read every recap or summary before diving into long stories, but last month I tried a 900k word fic with zero chapter summaries. I just jumped in blind and let the slow buildup surprise me. Honestly, the plot twists hit way harder when I wasn't spoiled by the summary hints. It took me 3 weeks to finish it, but I got this feeling of discovery I never had with other long reads. Has anyone else tried skipping the summaries or do you think they're needed to keep track of stuff?

Three weeks is dedication, I feel you on that payoff feeling when spoilers are skipped.

Watching an episode three weeks late is still watching it, @skyler_craig, so what's the big deal?
