That 8-part Reddit series about the guy finding clues in his grandpa's attic finally paid off after 6 months

I stumbled on this story last winter where some dude kept finding old letters and keys hidden in his grandpa's house. It was like 30,000 words across 8 posts and nothing really happened until part 4 when he found a safe behind a wall. I almost quit at part 2 because the pacing was brutal but man, the reveal in part 7 about his grandpa being a smuggler in the 70s was worth it. Has anyone else powered through a super slow story and actually got a solid payoff?

You gotta stick with these things like a slow cooker meal, just let it simmer and don't check too early. I had a similar one about a missing WWII medal that dragged for months before it turned out the old man was a spy. Power through the boring parts by skimming the descriptions and only reading the dialogue, that kept me sane until the big payoff.
