That comment about my pacing was hard to hear, but it fixed my writing
I used to post these huge multi-part stories where nothing happened until part 3 or 4, and people kept saying they were 'too slow.' I thought they just wanted instant gratification. Then one commenter said, 'You're not building tension, you're just delaying the plot. Every scene needs a reason to exist.' That hit me hard because they were right. I was padding with descriptions and side tangents that didn't matter. Now I cut anything that doesn't move the story or reveal something about the character. My last serial got way more engagement after I did that. Has anyone else had to learn the difference between slow burn and just boring? How do you tell when you're crossing that line?

That commenter gave you a real gift. Hard to hear but totally worth it.
