Vent: That blogger I dismissed for being slow actually won me over
I used to scroll past this one writer who posted these massive, rambling pieces about local history. Then last month I read her 10 part series on a old train station renovation in my town, and by part 3 I was hooked. She spent 2 years just interviewing people who worked there in the 80s before even getting to the building itself. Has anyone else found a long form writer they blew off at first but came back to?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with a local food blogger. She wrote these novel-length posts about old diners and I kept skipping them. Then I gave her piece on a hot dog stand that's been around since the 50s a chance and got completely sucked in. The trick is to just pick one specific series or topic, not everything they've written. Once you find the one that clicks, you'll end up digging through their whole archive. That's what happened with me, now I've got a folder of her stuff bookmarked for slow weekends.

Not sure if I see it the same way, @thompson.christopher. In my experience, giving a writer a second chance can backfire if the stuff you skipped was boring for a reason. Your mileage may vary though.
