A commenter on my tiny history blog said my posts felt like a textbook, so I started adding personal stories from my grandpa.
Now I include stuff like his memory of seeing a neon sign factory close in 1978, and it's way more fun to write. Anyone else get feedback that totally shifted their blog's vibe?

That "museum" comment is spot on. My own blog was so stiff until a friend said reading it felt like doing homework.

My buddy ran a cooking blog that was all perfect, shiny recipes. Someone told him it felt like a museum, no life in it. So he started writing about his kitchen disasters, like the time he used salt instead of sugar in a birthday cake. Now he posts photos of burnt stuff next to the good stuff, and people love it way more. That one piece of feedback totally changed his whole thing.
