Bought a $6 field guide from a church rummage sale, my walks got way different

Picked this old bird guide at a rummage sale in Portland last weekend. Cost six bucks. Turns out the pages have this waterproof coating, so I actually take it out in the rain. Never figured I'd use a paper book that much, but now I can name the birds at the park pond. Anyone else found a random cheap guide that beats their phone apps?
