My little blog about fixing old windows hit 500 views last month and I still can't believe it
I started this blog back in 2020 just to document the stuff I learned working on old houses in my neighborhood. It's mostly about things like reglazing single-pane windows and fixing rotted sills with epoxy. Nothing fancy, just real stuff I figured out after messing up a bunch of times. Last month I checked my stats on a whim and saw 500 people had visited. Five hundred! That blew my mind because I thought maybe 20 people total ever clicked on it. Most of the traffic came from someone on a DIY forum linking to my post about using a heat gun to soften old putty. It mattered because it made me feel like all that time taking notes and photos actually helped somebody else avoid my mistakes. Have any of you had a random post just take off out of nowhere with no warning?

Wait you really thought only 20 people would ever see it? I used to think the same thing about my stuff online, figured nobody cared.
Then a random post about fixing a loose door hinge got shared in a local Facebook group and hit 3k views overnight. Completely changed how I look at posting now.

3k views in one night? That's nuts man. I would've never guessed something like a door hinge fix could blow up like that. It's wild how the internet works sometimes, you think you're just putting something out into a void and then bam, thousands of people see it. I've had a couple posts get a few hundred views before and even that felt weird to me, couldn't imagine waking up to 3,000. Really makes you wonder what random thing is gonna catch fire next.
