My tiny poetry blog came back from a spam attack
Got hit with spam comments. Overwhelmed the site. Could not post for a week. Cleaned it up slowly. Two new people found it. They comment on every poem now. Small win.

Guess the spam bots were your unpaid marketing team. Somehow that actually worked.

Disagree completely. Spam attacks wreck a site's vibe and make it look abandoned. Those two new people might have found you through actual sharing, not spam. The time you spent cleaning up comments was time not spent writing new poems. Plus, some real readers might have visited during the attack, saw the mess, and left for good thinking the blog was dead.
