Overheard my neighbor say his blog gets 300 visitors a month and I almost spit out my coffee

I was watering my front yard in Phoenix last Tuesday and Bob from two doors down casually mentioned his blog about desert landscaping gets about 300 hits a month. He said he's been writing it for 4 years and considers that a success because he gets real comments from people who actually try his tips. What do you consider a win for a tiny blog that nobody knows about - numbers or genuine engagement?

Honestly, 300 real people actually reading is way better than 3000 bots scrolling past.

I used to be all about the numbers. When I started my little gaming blog back in college I was obsessed with hitting bigger and bigger visitor counts. But then I had a post about fixing a glitch in an old Zelda game that only got like 150 views, but the comments section was full of people saying I saved their save file. That clicked for me. Bob is right. 300 people who actually care and try your stuff is way more valuable than a thousand randos who bounce in 10 seconds. I'd rather have 50 people who email me about my advice than 5000 bots that do nothing.
