Serious question, did anyone else write off personal recipe blogs until they read one at 2am?
I always assumed food blogs with no photos and a plain white background were just grandma rambling into the void, but last week I read a 2011 post by a retired line cook in Tulsa explaining why he salts his scrambled eggs 20 minutes early, and I have not stopped thinking about it. Now I want to know which forgotten food blogs you actually cook from instead of just bookmarking.
That Tulsa line cook thing is real though, Kenji Lopez-Alt has talked about salting eggs ahead too. Half the good stuff I cook now comes from dead blogs with weird names like "Cooking for Engineers" or some old guy's site that hasn't been touched since 2013. The plain ones are usually the best because they were cooking, not trying to sell you a $40 pan.
