Shoutout to that forgotten blog about old-school woodworking joints
Last week I stumbled across this tiny blog called 'Dovetail Diaries' that some guy in Vermont has been updating since 2009. It has maybe 50 posts total and almost no comments, but the detail he puts into explaining mortise and tenon joints is incredible. I spent 2 hours reading his breakdown of how to cut them without power tools. The photos are grainy and the text is basic, but it's way more useful than any big YouTube channel I've seen. For anyone into hand tools or furniture building, this blog is a hidden goldmine. Has anyone else found a small blog that taught them more than the big sites ever could?

I'd mess up a mortise and tenon so bad it'd look like modern art. Probably turn a nice dovetail into something that belongs in a horror movie.

That modern art comment cracked me up because half my "practice" pieces ended up as weird wall decorations in my garage. Those hidden blogs make the mistakes seem less embarrassing though, like a secret club of people who've all ruined the same piece of oak.
