Stumbled on a blog about fixing old iPods, actually worked for once

I had an old iPod Classic that wouldn't turn on anymore. Found some tiny blog from a guy in Ohio that walked through replacing the hard drive with an SD card. Cost me $30 for the adapter and a 128gb card, took about 20 minutes to swap. Has anyone else found a random blog that saved an old piece of tech from the trash?

Oh man, that's awesome you got it working! But I gotta gently correct one thing here. That 128gb card might cause you problems down the line. The old iPod Classic's firmware has a known limit with SD cards over 128gb, it doesn't handle the storage mapping right. I learned this the hard way when I used a 256gb card and my iPod kept freezing after I loaded about 60gb of music. You should be fine with 128gb honestly, but if you start getting random skips or crashes, try dropping down to a 64gb card instead. Also, make sure you formatted it as FAT32, not exFAT, that tripped me up for a whole weekend.
