Stumbled on a tiny blog about fixing vintage sewing machines that saved my Singer 66 from the dumpster

A few months back my old Singer 66 started skipping stitches and I was about to give up on it. Then I found this blog called 'Threads and Timbers' run by a guy in Nebraska who only posts like twice a month. He had a step by step on adjusting the bobbin tension with a $3 screwdriver and now the thing runs better than when I got it at an estate sale in 2019. Anyone else got a go-to obscure blog for keeping old gear alive?

Man, that's a lucky find. The thing about blogs like that is they often have comments sections where old timers chime in with fixes you won't find in any manual. I've seen people post photos of their grandfather's modified tools for specific machine repairs, stuff you'd never think of. Did you check if he had a section on cleaning old grease without hurting the paint? That's usually the trick that saves a machine from the scrap pile.

I saw a guy on YouTube restore an old lathe using nothing but kerosene and a plastic scraper to lift the gunk without damaging the original paint. Total game changer for keeping the patina while getting it working again.
