The blog I'd been following for 8 years just shut down without a word

This morning I tried to check up on this tiny homesteading blog I'd been reading since 2016 - just some lady in rural Maine documenting her chicken coop builds and garden experiments. The whole site is gone. No goodbye post, no archive, nothing. I feel weirdly bummed about it. It wasn't some big name operation, maybe 50 regular readers based on the comments section. But she'd mentioned in her last post a month ago that her domain renewal was coming up and she was debating if it was worth the $12 a year. I guess she decided it wasn't. Has anyone else lost a small blog they followed for years without any warning? Any way to dig up old content from those forgotten corners of the internet?

Yeah I've noticed this happening more and more lately. It's like all these tiny personal corners of the internet are just quietly blinking out of existence. A $12 domain renewal or a $6 monthly hosting bill can feel like a big deal when you're the only one maintaining something. I've got a friend who ran a forum about vintage radio repairs for like a decade and one day the hosting company just dropped his site over a billing error, no recovery possible. The way the web is set up now it's all so fragile, everything depends on one person remembering to pay a bill or keep the server running. Sorry about your homesteading blog, those are the ones that feel the most real too.
