Used to skim blog posts for 2 minutes each, now I read one all the way through after a forestry blogger in Oregon pointed out I was missing the real insights.

He said my comment on his post about trail maintenance was shallow, and he was right, so I started digging into the whole archives and found 3 solid tips for preventing erosion on my own property. Has anyone else realized they were glossing over blogs that actually had useful depth?

Been there. I used to fly through posts about managing woods and timber, thinking I already knew the basics. Then an old forester in Tennessee pointed out I was completely missing the signs of a pest issue in his comment section. Turns out he was right, I went back through six months of his archives and found a whole method for identifying beetle damage early that saved me a ton of headache. Now I make myself read at least one blog post start to finish every week, even if I think I know the topic. It's amazing what you skip when you're just glancing at headlines.

My buddy Mike used to race through car repair blogs like they were junk mail. Then some old mechanic in Arizona called him out on a brake pad comment, so he actually read the whole thing. Ended up fixing his own truck's rusted calipers with a tip from a 2019 post.
