Vent: I broke a 2004 blog's guestbook by posting my URL wrong, and the owner emailed me about it
I was digging through old link lists on Saturday and found this tiny blog about hand-built radios that stopped updating in 2004. The guestbook still worked, so I tried to sign it and typed my site with a typo, and the page threw an error. I emailed the address in the footer not expecting much, and the guy wrote back in 20 minutes saying his guestbook script chokes on bad URLs and asking what I meant to post. He fixed it with 3 lines of code and then added my link to his list, which has maybe 40 entries on it. Now I'm weirdly invested and reading his whole archive from the start. Does anyone else here ping the owner when an old blog breaks, or do you just move on?
