Why does nobody talk about the blog of a guy who reviews every diner in Bakersfield using only a flip phone camera?
I stumbled on this blog called Bakersfield By Breakfast about 8 months ago and it had maybe 12 posts, all phone pictures of pancakes that looked like they were taken through a foggy jar. I checked it again last week and now there are 340 posts and a small comment section with regulars from Ohio and Wales. The difference is wild. What changed was the guy stopped writing reviews and just started posting a single photo of his receipt with a hand written note like 'waitress called me hon, 10/10'. His photos are still bad, that never changed, but the notes give you more about the place than any star rating ever could. I think most people who write about hidden blogs are chasing clean design and long essays, and that is why they miss stuff like this. Who else has a blog they check where the whole thing got better because the writer just stopped trying so hard?
