Found a stat that blew my mind about book club turnover rates
I read in a 2023 survey from BookBrowse that 68 percent of book club members quit within 6 months, which makes me wonder if we're picking titles that actually fit our group or just chasing bestsellers.

Maybe we're all just tired of pretending to like the same hot new release everyone else is reading.

Fair question though, @allen.amy. Are people actually reading these hyped books and faking enjoyment, or are they just buying them for the shelf aesthetic and never cracking the spine? I've seen more unread bestsellers on social media than actual book discussion lately.

And thats probably part of why so many people bail. Nobody wants to be the one to admit they spent $28 on a book they hated and now have to pretend to enjoy it for a month.
