Just realized my book club has been missing the best discussions by accident
Last week my friend Sarah mentioned she hated our picks because nobody ever talked about why characters made dumb choices, just plot stuff. It hit me that we've been racing through summaries instead of sitting with the messy parts. Anybody else's group skip over the character psychology stuff?

You mentioned "why characters made dumb choices" and that's exactly what happened in my group last month. We were reading this mystery where the detective kept ignoring obvious clues, and I spent ten minutes ranting about how the guy probably had undiagnosed ADHD or something. Everyone just stared at me like I was crazy, then somebody said "well the plot needed him to miss them." So I pulled out my phone and showed them a whole article about how inattentive types actually notice MORE details, not less, and suddenly we were off on this forty minute tangent about neurodivergent headcanons.
