My sister said our book club picks are too safe and it stuck with me

She argued over coffee that we only read 'important' books and avoid anything fun, which made me realize we haven't touched a genre novel in 2 years. Does your group ever get stuck in a rut like that?

Your sister is right and your book club needs an intervention. My group got stuck in a rut reading nothing but heavy historical fiction about war for a solid year. We finally snapped and picked a cheesy thriller about a haunted lighthouse that was absolutely ridiculous. Nobody wanted to admit they liked it, but everyone finished it in three days and we spent the whole meeting laughing about the terrible science.

Yeah, my friend's group had that "too safe" problem. They were only picking these huge, serious novels that took months to finish. I mean, someone finally suggested a mystery set on a space station, and it was like a light switched on. They read it in a week and argued about the ending for an hour. Now they mix in a fun book every other month.

What was the space station book called? Sounds like a good change of pace.
