Our book club pick was 700 pages and only one person finished it, so we made a new rule
Last Tuesday our group met at Rosa's diner in Boise to talk about a novel that was 700 pages long, and it turns out only one guy out of nine actually reached the end. The rest of us skimmed the last 200 pages or just read the Wikipedia summary an hour before showing up. The funny part is the discussion was better than ever because nobody was scared of spoiling anything, so we just argued about the ending for two hours. Now we're debating a new rule that books over 400 pages get two meeting cycles, but half the group says that's just rewarding the slackers. How does your club handle it when most people show up having not finished the book?
