Our book club spent 45 minutes arguing over the pronunciation of 'Hermione' before the meeting even started.
It began when someone quoted a line from the first Harry Potter book and three different accents came out. Anyone else's group get derailed by something totally silly like that?

Oh man, we had a full on ten minute debate about whether it's "eye-ther" or "ee-ther" when someone tried to quote a line from Wuthering Heights. Actually got heated enough that Janet grabbed her phone to look up old BBC recordings, which then turned into a whole side conversation about which posh British accents sound the most pretentious. Ended up ordering pizza and never even touched the book that night.
3
