Paid $40 for a book club debate guide and it basically told me to read the book

The thing is just 12 pages of generic questions like 'what was your favorite scene' but my group in Austin has already torn through 30 books together, so how do you actually get people arguing about themes when everyone secretly agrees, has anyone else wasted cash on these guides or do you just wing it with sticky notes?

30 books in and you still need a guide to get a reaction out of your crew, that sounds more like a you problem than the $40. Maybe the real issue is everyone's too polite to say the book was mid, and a little structure would force some actual heat instead of the usual nodding.
