Rant: My book club argued for 40 minutes over one paragraph in Chapter 3

We were discussing 'The Night Circus' last Thursday and I mentioned that the clockwork tree felt like a metaphor for time running out, but half the group insisted it was about creativity and freedom. The debate got so heated that two people pulled out their phones to find the exact passage, and we ended up reading it aloud three times just to agree on what it actually said. Have any of your groups ever gotten stuck on a single detail like that, or do you usually move past disagreements faster?

Oh man, isn't that just life right now. People see what they want to see.
