Serious question, our group argued for three meetings about the ending of 'Klara and the Sun'

We read it last fall, and the final chapter left half of us feeling hopeful and the other half feeling deeply sad. We spent the first meeting just going over our initial reactions, which took about an hour. The second meeting, someone brought in a 15-page academic article they found online, and we spent the whole time picking that apart. It finally took a third meeting, where we just went page by page through the last 30 pages, to mostly agree on what the author was going for. Has your club ever gotten that stuck on a book's ending?

I mean, getting stuck like that sounds like the whole point of a book club to me.
