That $80 dollar "rare" book club edition I grabbed off eBay

I got suckered into buying a book club edition of a sci-fi classic from the 1970s. Paid $80 for it because the seller claimed it was a first printing. I brought it to my local used bookshop in Austin and the owner laughed, said book club editions are worth maybe $5 since they use cheaper paper and don't have the true first edition markings. Anyone else get burned on a collector's edition that turned out to be a dud?

@umamoore Honestly, even if the story felt kinda slow at first, I stuck with it and ended up really liking how the characters turned out. Did the ending hit you the same way it hit me?
