The shift from dog-earing pages to using sticky tabs

I used to fold corners to mark my spot in book club books, but last year I switched to those little sticky arrow tabs. Now I can flag three or four passages at once without bending the pages all out of shape. Anybody else change up their marking system over the years?

Doesn't it feel like dog-earing is kind of a sacred thing though, like you're really living with the book? I get the appeal of tabs for keeping things neat, but part of me misses the physical wear and tear that shows a book's been actually read. Are you finding the tabs stay put after you've shoved the book in a bag for a few days?

Those tabs fall out by page 20 when I toss a book in my work bag.
