Trick for stopping book club arguments before they start
I started making everyone write down their top 3 takeaways before we talk, and it cut our debates about what the author meant by half in just two meetings, has anyone else tried a simple rule like that to keep things focused?

3 jobs of mine died because nobody wrote down assumptions before meetings" That's a wild stat but I see your point. Maybe the trick isn't making people pick their top three but having them write down one thing they want to ask the group instead.

The best talks I have are when people disagree about what the author meant, because that's where you learn stuff you never saw on your own. If everyone brings their three main points locked in, nobody is really listening to change their mind, they're just waiting to read their list. It feels like turning a fun group chat into a homework check.
