Wasted $60 on a book club subscription box that was not worth it

I signed up for this monthly book club box after seeing an ad, paid $60 upfront for three months, and got two mass market paperbacks I could've grabbed at a thrift store for a dollar each. The discussion prompts were generic and the 'exclusive' author letter was just a printed sheet with three paragraphs. Anyone else fall for a book subscription that looked great online but flopped hard in real life?

@young.emma that's when I started buying used copies or waiting for sales, it's not worth that kind of money.
